Queen Mum flies to royal funeral LONDON, Friday (AFP) Ailing but determined, Britain's 101-year-old Queen Mother flew to London ahead of her daughter Margaret's funeral on Friday, the first royal occasion of its kind since the 1997 death of Princess Diana. She was flown by helicopter from the royal estate of Sandringham in eastern England to Windsor Castle, west of London, where the funeral is taking place. The elderly royal has let it be known that she is determined to attend the service, despite persistent concerns over her health which were exacerbated by a fall Wednesday when she cut an arm. |
