CPC fall imminent: Thirty one members reaffirm allegiance to UNP

Thirty-one Central Provincial Council members who submittedd affidavits stating their support to the Opposition UNP on Thursday reaffirmed their allegiance yesterday.

They submitted 31 new affidavits to the Secretary to the Governor confirming their earlier statement of allegiance, Political sources told the Daily News.

Accordingly, 23 UNP members, six Ceylon Workers Congress and two Upcountry People's Front members handed over 31 affidavits to the Governor's Secretary H.M. Jayatilake.

Opposition Organiser Wasantha Aluvihare said that the UNP will control the Council administration before the February 21st sitting.

Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake will oversee three Ministries which do not have Ministers.

These are the Ministries of Health, Indigenous Medicine, Sports and Youth Affairs - Industries, Livestock, Hindu Religious Affairs and Tamil Education - Transport and Highways, Women Affairs and Irrigation Ministries.

Development works have been delayed due to the political imbalance of the Council which has been dragging PA members told the Daily News.
