'Top priority to revive economy, end N-E war'

The present government which came to power in December has ten priorities to be fulfilled immediately among them first and foremost is to revive the collapsed economy of the country. Then comes the North East war. The law and order of the country also has gone into low ebb and we have to do something to bring it back to the correct order, said Mahinda Samarasinghe, Minister of Labour and Employment at a meeting held at Dodangoda in the Matugama electorate.

The meeting was held to felicitate him on his new appointment as a Minister.

The Minister and party were received at the Tudugala junction and conducted in a procession up to the venue of the meeting.

Mr. Samarasinghe said that till this UNP Government came to power, the country was torn by party politics. It was the main element which ruined our country. During the election campaign our present Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe promised the country to do away with party politics once he comes to power. Today he wanted to create a new type of political culture in this country and to uplift the present economical condition and develop it once again.

Lakshman Wijemanne Kalutara District MP said that today, the people had elected them as their MP and it was the duty of all MPs to work for the prosperity and the development of our country rather than using the post as a garland.
