Govt doing its best to restore peace by Trincoamlee correspondent Trincoamlee district MP, M.A.M. Maharoof (UNP) who opened a community centre at Podawakaddu a resettled village north of Tricoamlee said the UNF Government is doing its best to restor peace and harmony in the country Cessation of hostilities has been extended for another month. Mr. Maharoof said the peace process has been given top priority with government taking necessary steps with the facilitation of Norway to bring the war to an end and restore peace in the country so that people can live in amity without fear. He said once peace is restored ending the war, steps will be taken to resettle refugees in their respective villages and to begin development activities in those areas. The community centre building was constructed by two international donor agencies at a cost of Rs. 750,000. Refugees and resettlers who belonged to all three communities participated at the meeting. |
