Fast forward tourism promotion packages from SL Tourism

The Sri Lanka Tourism Board will introduce a series of promotional package tours in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore next week on the `buy one get one free' campaign initially kicked off in India last year.

"It will be promoted simultaneously from February 15 to June 15 in all three destinations. The idea is to offer an attractive and consessional package that is of specific interest to each while promoting Sri Lanka's diversity of tourist interests," Sri Lanka Tourism Board Chairman Renton de Alwis said. Marketed under different themes, the five nights/six days standard and deluxe packages offer special concessions including two discount tickets, star class hotel accommodation, free transport and site seeing tours.

The Malaysia and Singapore packages will be marketed under the theme 'A taste of Peace' while the Thailand tour will be promoted on the lines of `Beyond Buddhism, in a Land Like No Other'.

The packages cover Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Negombo, and the Cultural Triangle and are designed in consultation with the participation of Sri Lankan Airlines and the hotel sector.

According to the Tourist Board, a large number of tourists arrive during the first six months of every year and the promotions are targeted to increase this volume as well as encourage others to visit the country.

These concessions are also to be granted to tourists from the middle eastern countries as well as indian tourists from Mumbai and Delhi.
