Vallibel Lanka to commence feeder service Vallibel Lanka Shipping Ltd, a 100 percent Sri Lankan company will start a feeder service between Chennai and Colombo next week. In its maiden voyage, the vessel - MV Baduluweli will bring 2,500 mt of cement from Chennai. "The cement will be transported to Jaffna through the Colombo Port," company's Director, S.M.Godwin told the Daily News. The 17-year old vessel - MV Baduluweli has the capacity to transport 150 containers at a time.The company also plans to operate a passenger vessel (CAT ship) service between Chennai and Colombo shortly. "We are awaiting the Government's approval," Mr. Godwin said. For this purpose, the company plans to purchase a vessel from Japan which has the capacity to transport 450 passengers at a time. |
