Lankan women cricketers beat Pakistan, take early lead The Sri Lanka women's cricketers took an early lead in the six match series when they outplayed the touring Pakistan women's cricket team by a convincing margin of 123 runs in the first limited over match played at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday. Batting first the Sri Lankan team hammered 192 for 5 wickets from their allotted 45 overs and then dismissed the opposition for just 69 runs in 33 overs. Sri Lanka reached their score of 192 runs mainly due to two superb half centuries by Chamini Seneviratne and Hirosha Abeysinghe. The latter hit a top score of 57 and the former compiled a solid knock of 56. Vice Captain Sharmeen Khan returned the best bowling figures for Pakistan with 3 for 42 while skipper Shaiza Khan captured 2 for 33. In reply the Pakistan team managed only 69 runs against some penetrative bowling by Rose Fernando and Ramani Perera who shared six wickets between them. Kiran Baluch and N. Nazir were the only players to reach double figures. The second match between the two teams will be played tomorrow at the Moors grounds Braybrooke Place.
