Dialog GSM, Sri Lanka's premier cellular provider announced its sponsorship of the under 19 cricket contingent to the World Cup. The sponsorship of the Sri Lankan under 19 team fielding regional school stars is yet another step in Dialog GSM's illustrious and pioneering efforts to uplift sports in Sri Lanka to international standards. Dialog's pioneering spirit in supporting sports relatively neglected by commercial sponsorship is amply demonstrated by the fact that it became the first commercial organization to sponsor the under 19 cricket team.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Executive of Dialog GSM stressed that "Dialog is indeed privileged to support, and be associated with the Sri Lanka under 19 cricket contingent. Our forthcoming sponsorship of the Under 19 cricket team is aimed at encouraging and supporting up and coming cricketers and contributing in whatever way we can towards developing world class talent in Sri Lanka. The U-19 team is no doubt represents the future of Sri Lankan Cricket, and in keeping with our theme of "The Future Today" we felt it would be timely that a commercial organization focuses its support on the next generation of cricketers".

Dialog GSM will be the exclusive sponsor of the under 19 cricketers taking part in the World Cup this year, which is scheduled to see the participation of all test playing countries. The sponsorship package is aimed at encouraging, promoting and Developing young talent nation wide and giving them the required international exposure in improving their skill level in order to ensure a fertile source of talent to feed the national test team.

Speaking on the company's commitment to promote sports in Sri Lanka Mothilal De Silva, Head of Market Development of Dialog GSM stressed on the importance of long term commercial sponsorship in uplifting Sri Lankan sports to internationally competitive levels. "Commercial sponsorship should not be limited to winners alone - effective support is where a large resource of talented sportsmen are developed from which stars will naturally emerge."
