NEW DELHI, Jan 18 (AFP) - US Secretary of State Colin Powell was due to meet Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on Friday on the second day of his South Asia peace mission, officials said.

Powell will go into talks with Vajpayee around 11:15 am (0545 GMT). Prior to this, he is due to meet with National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra who is also Vajpayee's principal secretary and with the leader of opposition, Sonia Gandhi.

He is also scheduled to address a joint news conference, his second since Thursday, with Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh at around 12:30 pm (0700 GMT).

At his news conference Thursday, Powell said it was upto New Delhi to decide whether Islamabad had done enough to warrant a change in its no-talks policy.

The US official, who arrived here from Pakistan on Thursday evening, also hinted that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf may consider handing over some of the Indian nationals on the list of 20 most-wanted criminals and terrorirsts New Delhi had handed to Islamabad.
