A batsmen v bowlers final at SSC today

It will be NCC batsmen against Tamil Union's bowlers when the two sides packed with national stars clash in the Premier Limited Over final at the SSC grounds today commencing 10 a.m. With the national players free from any international commitments, both clubs will be at full strength for this key fixture which should draw a good crowd.

NCC has among its ranks skipper Russel Arnold, Hashan Tillakaratne, Aravinda de Silva, Kumar Sangakkara, Ruwan Kalpage, Ravindra Pushpakumara and Malinga Bandara while Tamil Union has among them, the king of spin Muttiah Muralitharan, Niroshan Bandaratilleke, Upul Chandana, Indika de Saram, and Pramodya Wickramasinghe, the longstanding SSC and former Sri Lanka fast bowler who has joined Tamil Union.

NCC reached the final by defeating Colts, while Tamil Union beat BRC in their respective semi-finals last Saturday.

The champions will be awarded the Premier Limited Over Tournament Challenge Cup and a cash prize of Rs. 150,000/=, with the runners-up receiving Rs. 100,000/= from the BCCSL. There will also be awards for the Man-Of-The-Match, Best Batsman and Best Bowler of the final.

The Match Referee and Adjudicator will be former Sri Lanka player and current national selector Don Anurasiri.

The match will be telecast live on Rupavahini's Channel Eye, sponsored by Janashakthi National.

Tamil Union (from): Niroshan Bandaratillake (Captain), Muttiah Muralitharan, Upul Chandana, Indika Ganegoda, Nuwan Shiroman, Ruvin Peiris, Indika de Saram, Malintha Gajanayake, Anil Rideegamanagedera, Gayan Wijekoon, Sanjeewa Jayaratne, Pramodya Wickramasinghe, Ranga Dias, Lassana Dias, Brijesh Jeganathan, Sagara Kumara.

Umpires: Gamini Silva and Tyronne Wijewardene, TV umpire: Lalith Jayasundera.

Champions trophy semi-finals

The semi-finals of the Champions Trophy Limited Over Tournament will be played on today with Lankan CC meeting Moratuwa SC at the Saravanamuttu Stadium, and Badureliya CC playing Police SC at Bloomfield grounds. Play is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m.

The winners will meet in the final on Sunday (January 20) at the SSC. The Match Referee for the semi final at the Saravanamuttu Stadium will be S. Illangaratnam, and the umpires, K. M. Kottachchi and G. Hallalarachchi. A. C. M. Lafir will be the Match Referee for the match at Bloomfield grounds with umpires being S. P. Chandakumar and Lalith Kapugedera. The champions will be awarded the Championship Limited Overs Tournament Challenge Cup and a cash prize of Rs. 100,000/=, with the runners-up receiving Rs. 75,000/=. The Man-Of-The-Final, Best Batsman and Best Bowler will each be awarded Rs. 10,000/=.

The Match Referee and Adjudicator at the final will be former Sri Lanka player and current national selector Mahesh Goonatillake. The umpires for the final will be M. S. K. Nandiweera and B. K. D. K. Sumanasekera.
