Murali brought honour for Sri Lanka - Galle Mayor

Sri Lanka's 29 year old off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan did his country proud when he became the seventh bowler in Test history to take 400 wickets.

Muralitharan achieved this unique feat on the fourth day of the third and final cricket Test against Zimbabwe played at the Galle International Stadium last Tuesday.

You have without doubt brought fame to your motherland and gladdened the hearts of Sri Lankans everywhere. Muralitharan's achievement is not only a personal victory for him but victory for all Sri Lankans. I join with the Members of the Galle M.C. and the citizens of Galle in congratulating Muralitharan and wishing him well, said the Mayor of Galle Mansoor Marikar at a Media Conference held at Galle M.C. Auditorium.

Because of the International Cricket Stadium the name of the Galle has become famous all over the world. When there is a Test Match the Galle Town can be shown all over the world through the TV. Therefore we have to keep the Galle city very clean and tidy.
