The Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) and the Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) signed an agreement today in Kathmandu to form the Joint Economic Council (JEC) in order to promote economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Nepal. FCCISL President, Macky Hassim and the FNCCI President, Baktha Shrestha signed the agreement on behalf of the two countries. According to the agreement both sides will identify the areas of industries and services viable for cooperative ventures between Sri Lanka and Nepal and take specific measures for promoting close economic cooperation between the two countries. The two federations have also discussed the possibility of using the services of Colombo Fort, and the operation of private airlines to enhance the trade opportunities between the two countries. |
