by Uva Wellassa Roving corrospondent The Uva Provincial Council has allocated Rs. 720 million for development activities in the Province this year. This is a major share of foreign aid received by the Council this year. The leading funding agencies are the FAO, Norwegian Government, European Union and the World Bank, said A. M. Muniratne Attanayake, Opposition Leader in the Council who has lent his co-operation to the Council in obtaining foreign aid. He said out of the Rs. 720 million allocated for development activities the Integrated Development Program in the Badulla district has received Rs. 295 million while Rs. 132 million has been set apart for investment in minor irrigation schemes. The Moneragala District Integrated Rural Development Program gets Rs. 80 million, while Rs. 40 million has been allocated for water supply and Health Projects in Badulla. |
