More lorries to Vanni

by P. Piyadasa

Vavuniya Government Agent, K. Ganesh said yesterday that 102 lorry loads of essential goods were sent to the uncleared areas through the Tiravanakulam checkpoint. He said 30 lorry loads of essential goods were scheduled to be sent everyday, but added the amount could vary according to demand.

"The prices in the uncleared areas have declined sharply and it will further decline within the next few days," he said.

He said the measures had been taken to provide fuel to the vehicles sent to the uncleared areas under a coupon system. Under this, a certain amount of petrol and diesel will be sent to the Vanni, he said.
