Luck favours lucky at Sumathi awards by Nadira Gunatilleke Two Sinhala teledramas "Kemmura" and "Sohoyuro" produced by prominent actor Lucky Dias won several major awards at the Sumathi Tele Awards 2002 held at the BMICH on January 4 under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Expressing views about the event Lucky Dias said that it was a great honour to him and to his wife to receive awards from Prime Minister Wickremesinghe at the festival. "It's a great satisfaction to see that your hard work and dedication is rewarded year after year", he said. Last year Lucky Dias won the Most Popular Actor Award for his own production Sahas Gav Dura.At the initial stage Kemmura received 13 nominations while Sohoyuro received three. In the final round Kemmura won main awards for the Best Teledrama of the Year, Best Direction (Ananda Fonseka), Best Actress (Malini Fonseka), Best Supporting Actress (Geetha Kanthi Jayakody), Best Make-up Artist (Wasantha Vittachchi). Best Supporting Actor's Award won by Amiththa Weerasinghe for the role he played in Sohoyuro. |
