Situation report

One civilian and two soldiers were injured due to anti-personnel mine explosions in the general areas of Puttur, Kilaly and Karaikkal in Jaffna peninsula.

The injured civilian was Vairamuttu Sivasubramaniam (43) of Vavniayasingam Road, Avarangal South in the Jaffna peninsula.

The civilian got injured due to an explosion of an anti-personnel mine on entering the uncleared area without proper permission from the Security Forces and ignoring the cautionary signboards displayed by the security authorities.

He was admitted to Jaffna hospital for treatment.

Around 542 anti-personnel mines had been recovered from the general areas of Anaipanthi, Alaveddi, Kokkuvil and Periyavilan in the Jaffna peninsula during the week between January 04 and January 10.
