Rohan and Druvy in concert in London

by Colvin L. de Silva - our London correspondent

Classical music lovers in London had the grand opportunity to listen to Rohan De Saram (cello) and Druvy De Saram (piano) in concert at the Salvation Army Auditorium in West London recently. The audience comprised both Sri Lankans and British and John Field - a former British High Commissioner to Colombo was the guest of honour. The event was organised by Sirima Jayasekera - one time radio and concert artiste.

Needless to say both Rohan and Druvy are world class musicians and it is only rarely they perform before a Sri Lankan audience. Both of them travel globally to perform before prestigious audiences and are held in high esteem.

Rohan began his musical career taking lessons from the Polish teacher Hobermann, who was then resident in Sri Lanka. A journey to England open up new vistas for Rohan and thus began his remarkable and illustrious career. He is acclaimed as a great musician all over the world.

Rohan's brother Druvy is himself a musician of no mean repute and has an impressive record himself.

Both Rohan and Druvy are very charming and simple musicians and they have a strong sense of feeling for their motherland - Sri Lanka.
