Police on receiving a tip off, that the leader and three member gang were hiding in the hills in Mawathagama, scaled the rocky terrain to make the arrest. The gang were in possession of locally made and imported weapons and over 100 live ammunitions. The leader of the gang, had on being questioned that the rifles and ammunition were supplied by army deserters.
