 MARKETING CONSULTANT

The Port of Colombo, currently in the process of a major restructuring programme has developed considerably in the last decade and ranks high in the world container port listing with an annual throughput of 1.7 M TEUS. 

With a view to further enhance its operations, productivity & services and to build strategic partnerships in association with shipping lines, the organisation seeks the services of an experienced and results oriented individual to serve in the above capacity. 

The successful candidate should have the following attributes:- 

Diploma in Marketing (Chartered Institute of Marketing) / Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, or equivalent qualification in Marketing Management with 05 years of post qualifying experience in Marketing of Services,

OR 

Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, UK, Chartered Institute of Transport, UK with 05 years of experience in Marketing in Liner Shipping, International Freight Forwarding / Port Management. 

NOTE: An MBA will be an advantage. 

A sound knowledge of current trends in Container Shipping in relation to the Indian sub continent and awareness of the needs and demands of global container lines particularly those now using the Port of Colombo as a hub Port is essential. 

Age: Not more than 55 years. (This age limit will not apply to those  who are in the service of Govt. Departments and Public Sector). 

Terms and Conditions of the Employment: For 03 years’ contract basis, renewable annually. 

Remuneration: An attractive and negotiable remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience in keeping with Private Sector norms. 

Authority maintained vehicle, official bungalow and other fringe benefits await the selected candidate. 

Key tasks would encompass: 

Identification of new growth opportunities in existing and new markets and increase competitivenesss in line with the strategic vision of the management. 

Implementation of the Organisation’s Marketing strategy including training, development and maintenance of strong working relationships with the senior management and decision makers of Global Shipping Lines. 

Disseminate market information and advise on the development of marketing plans combined with performance monitoring systems. 

Reporting direct to the Head of Organisation the ideal candidate looked for, should be a strategic marketeer capable of identifying significant opportunities for incremental revenue and possessing exceptional presentation and negotiation skills, coupled with dynamic leadership personality.
