SAARC film festival to be held in Colombo
The SAARC film festival will be held in Colombo from May 26 to 31.
The festival has over the last two years gained momentum for promoting
some of the best films from the SAARC region claims the SAARC Cultural
Centre.
This event is said to be unique to this region as the festival itself
has become a forum for people interaction as well as understanding and
savoring of culture through the medium of cinema, where films from the
SAARC countries will not merely be a tool of entertainment but rather
one of cultural awareness. A reputed panel of adjudicators selects the
best film and awards are given as incentive to continue producing good
films for the region. The Festival will take place at the National Film
Corporation Cinema Hall, Sri Lanka.
There will be two open categories at the SAARC Film Festival this
year. Feature films and short films. The two films nominated from the
each of the member countries to each category will be eligible for SAARC
Best Feature Film and SAARC Best Documentary Film. A silver and bronze
award will also be awarded for both categories.
