CPA Sri Lanka, CPA Ireland signs MoU

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA
Ireland) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Sri Lanka
(CPA Sri Lanka) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),
which will see both bodies offer service and support to each others’
members and collaborate on joint research, education, member body
development and on other areas of mutual interest.
CPA Ireland is a founding member of the International Federation of
Accountants (IFAC) and shares the IFAC vision of strengthening the
global profession; it is committed to supporting the long term
development of CPA Sri Lanka. CPA Sri Lanka shares the IFAC objective to
serve the public interest by strengthening the profession and
contributing to the development of strong international economies.
Commenting on the agreement Eamonn Siggins, CEO, CPA Ireland said,
“CPA Ireland and CPA Sri Lanka, share common interests in the
advancement of the profession, especially in relation to the maintenance
and strengthening of professional and educational standards.
This relationship provides our organisations with a unique
opportunity to explore how we can advance these common interests. It
comes on top of strategic partnerships with peer bodies in CGA Canada,
CPA Australia, ICA India and ICA Bangladesh, IPA South Africa and audit
recognition in New Zealand.”
Welcoming the alliance, Daya Jayasinghe, Director/CEO of CPA Sri
Lanka said, “we are delighted to partner with CPA Ireland in an alliance
which will provide our organisations with opportunities to progress the
mutual interests of our members, thereby providing an infrastructure to
support the profession and enable members of both Institutes to meet the
needs of the evolving global environment and safeguard the public
interest.”
CPA is one of the best known international accounting designations
and is highly respected worldwide. As the CPA qualification is based on
international financial reporting and auditing standards, CPAs are well
qualified to operate in any jurisdiction internationally.
The success of CPAs in securing employment in industry, the public
sector and private practice in many countries, reflects the value of a
CPA qualification and the regard with which it is held, not only
nationally but also internationally.
Upon qualification as a CPA, the CPA joins a global network. Out of
some two and a half million accountants globally, one million plus
describe themselves as CPAs. Internationally, CPA is a truly portable
qualification, evidenced by the fact that there are CPAs in leadership
positions right around the globe. |
