Visakha Vidyalaya tops Performance Index

Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo recorded the best performance at the 2012
G C E Advanced Level Examination in the Science and Maths streams
according to the Performance Index released by the Research and
Development Branch of the Examinations Department.
Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo came second, while Royal College,
Colombo and Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha came third.
The first, second and third places in the Commerce and Arts streams
were taken by Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya and
Visakha Vidyalaya. A total of 63.15 percent had passed the G C E A-L
examination which is the highest ever recorded. This has been possible
due to the education development projects undertaken by the Education
Ministry.
A total of 98,254 males and 135,615 females applied for the 2012 G C
E Advanced Level Examination out of which 88.2 percent faced the
examination. A total of 59.75 percent of the students of the Bio Science
stream who faced the examination from the Western Province qualified to
enter university while 55.62 percent from the North and 55.28 percent
from the East qualified to enter university. |
