Coastguard rescue three teens from drowning

Sri Lanka Coast Guard officials rescued three students from drowning at the Nilaweli Beach in Trincomalee on Monday. Lifeguards attached to the Gopalapuram 'Life saving' point in Nilaweli rescued the three students.

The three students of Batuwatta Tamil College, Badulla were dragged away by strong currents.

Coastguards D H S Maduwantha and K K D Saranage who saw the students in difficulty, rescued them. The students were later handed over to their teacher Y Seedaran.

S R Giridaran, 16, D M Thangeeswaram, 15, and V K Raja, 15, thanked the Coastguard personnel for saving them.
