GL to brief Dpls

The External Affairs Ministry is to brief the diplomatic community about Sri Lanka’s current progress and the stance to be adopted at the forthcoming UNHRC sessions. This briefing will take place at a conference with all High Commissioners and ambassadors stationed in Colombo at the External Affairs Ministry this morning presided by External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris, ministry Director General of Communications Rodney Perera said.

He said during this meeting, Minister Peiris will explain the steps taken by the government to implement LLRC recommendations, the National Action Plan and also steps taken towards the rehabilitation of former LTTE cadres. Attention would also be drawn towards the exemption of Sri Lanka from the child soldiers’ list by the United Nations Security Council, development activities undertaken by the government including the strengthening of democracy in the Northern Province and the steps taken to recruit new hands to the public service, Perera said.
