Kudiramalai roadway submerged

The Kudiramalai region of the Wilpattu National Park cannot be reached by tourists as the park access road is submerged by flood waters caused by the overflowing of the major tanks in the park.

Kudiramalai which was earlier known as Thambapanni is of historical significance as Prince Vijaya is said to have first landed there. Kudiramalai is about 50 km off the main entrance to the Wilpattu National Park. There are nearly 40 tanks in the entire park of which 27 are major tanks.
