Two new ambassadors and a High Commissioner accredited to Sri Lanka presented their credentials to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday. External Affairs Minister Professor G L Peiris had discussions
with Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister for
South Asia, Alistair Burt on a range of issues at the ministry
yesterday. Among the topics discussed were the implementation
of the recommendations in the Lessons Learnt and
Reconciliation Commission Report, appropriate strategies
for the development of trade, investment and tourism, procedures
in respect of the political process, and arrangements
for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting
in Sri Lanka in November this year and Commonwealth
Business Forum, expected to attract widespread interest.
Burt toured the North and also delivered a lecture at the
Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic
Studies on �Sri Lanka: 2013 and Beyond�


A Hungarian government delegation led by the Parliament Speaker Dr. Kover Laszlo now in
the island, visited the Sri Jayewardenepura Vajira Sri Childrens� Development Centre. The
