Mr Sri Lanka Body Building Contest on December 23

One hundred and thirty seven body builders will take part in the 65th
Mr Sri Lanka Body Building Contest organized by Sri Lanka Body Building
and Fitness Federation (SLBBFF) which will be worked off at BMICH on
December 23 (Sunday) from 4.00 pm onwards.

They will vie for honours in 10 weight categories - under 21( junior
event), over 45 (Master event), 55 kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg,
85kg and over 85kg.
For the first time in the history of the championship, a handsome
cash award of Rs 100,000 will be given to the winner while the
runners-up will receive Rs 50000.
The competitor who finishes third will get a cash award of Rs
25000.In addition the winner, runner-up and third place will be awarded
trophies.
The competitors who will be placed from fourth to eighth place will
receive Rs 5000.00 each in addition to trophies and certificates.
This contest will serve as a qualifier for the Mr World Contest which
will be held next year.
The Secretary of the Sri Lanka Body Building and Fitness Federation
N.S.Jayawardena speaking at a press briefing yesterday revealed that Sri
Lanka is hoping to host the Asian Bodybuilding Championship in Colombo
in 2014.It is expected to cost Rs 4 million and they expect to raise
this money through sponsorship.
Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Parliamentarian Namal
Rajapaksa will be the chief guests.
Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and Dehiwala-Mount
Lavinia Mayor Dhanasiri Amaratunga will grace the occassion as the guest
of honour.
