Chasing out govt, a far cry - President
People’s fate intact:
Asela Kuruluwansa and Indika Polkotuwa
Certain people are hatching various conspiracies with the objective
of setting up a government of their own to earn a fast buck from the
sale of massive development projects launched by the present
administration.
Those who try to chase out the present government which has won the
people’s confidence will have to suffer the fate of the proverbial
parrot that waited impatiently for the cotton seed to ripen, President
Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
The President was addressing a meeting at Kundasale to mark the
opening of the modernised Maga Neguma machinery workshop and equipment
training school on Sunday.
President Rajapaksa said a strong opposition was vital for the
development and progress of any country. “The whole country looked
forward to the UNP Convention thinking that it would bring about a
positive change for the party and the country,” he said.
“Although the Elephant was expected to give birth to a robust baby,
it laid only a lump of dung only for the astonishment of all,” the
President said.
