President arrives in Kuwait to attend first ACD summit

President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Kuwait yesterday to attend the first Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit.

The President and delegation upon their arrival were received by the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, ministers, senior officials too were present to receive the President and the delegation. The ACD Summit will be attended by leaders of 31 Asian nations, Foreign Ministers, ministers and officials.

The summit, aiming at consolidating Asia's strength and fortifying its competitiveness in the region, will look into the challenges facing Asia, mainly, in the economic field, and proposed solutions to tackle them.

External Affairs Minister Prof.G.L.Peiris, Minister Susil Premajayantha, MP's Sajin Vas Gunewardene, A. H. M. Azwer and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge are accompanying the President.
