exporters and importers.
“This is a positive sign that Sri Lankan businessmen have included
Italy as a country to have growing partnerships with and vice versa,
said the President at this meeting.”
“Sri Lanka and Italy Business linkages will be further strengthened
in the years to come” said Sergio Sgambato, Secretary General of the
Indo Italian Chamber at the Luncheon meeting.
The Sri Lanka Italy Business Council was formed in October 1998,
under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The Council focuses
on the objectives of ‘promoting investment, trade and joint venture
between Sri Lanka and Italy’. It is one of the twenty bilateral business
Councils that function under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of
Commerce. The groundwork for the formation of the Council was laid by a
proposal made by the then Ambassador of Italy in Sri Lanka His
