Sunquick partnered with SLITHM

Sunquick partnered with Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) to conduct the Mocktail competition when the students of the Colombo Hotel School and the provincial schools participated.

The contestants showcased the talents under two categories - Classical Innovative Mocktail and Flaring Mocktail. The uniqueness of the competition was that each and every competitor prepared the Mocktail with Sunquick as the base ingredient.

Describing the project as "a new learning process for Sunquick fans", C. W. Mackie PLC Executive Director, Mangala Perera said the Company was happy to partnered with National Hotel School for project at a time when the tourism industry is enjoying a massive growth resulting from post-war optimism and increase in investor confidence, and tourist arrivals.

'Sunquick' is a global brand available in more than 120 countries worldwide. The first round of the competition was held at their respective provincial schools in mid-March over two days.

In their 7 satellite schools, 32 students from each satellite hotel school was chosen and a total of 224 students from all over the island contested.

Thirty two contestants were selected for the 'Classical Innovative Mocktail' semi-final and 16 for the "Flaring Mocktail" semi-finals held at Colombo Hotel School Auditorium on the March 30. The finals were held at the Auditorium of the Institute of Tourism and Hotel management.

Food and Beverage (F&B) lecturers Indika Alwis and Kavinda Rankothdiwela conceptualized trained and guided the students on modern trends with the assistance of the F & B Faculty of the Hotel School.

Encouraged by the success of the Mocktail Competition, the Company hopes to roll it out on a grandeur scale next year.

The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel management (SLITHM) is the pioneer Institute in Sir Lanka to train young men and women in the Hospitality and Travel Industry. It is managed by Sri Lanka Tourism Board under the Ministry of Economic Development. There are five provincial schools - in Anuradhapura, Bandarawela, Kandy, Koggala and Ratnapura while the other two are based in Colombo.
