ASP on the mat for bribery
A special team from the Bribery Commissioner�s Department arrested an
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) who was on duty at the Nugegoda
Police division for allegedly accepting a bribe from a woman conducting
a welfare centre in Maharagama.
The ASP was arrested near a temple in Maharagama while accepting Rs.
one million, a part of the promised amount of Rs.1.2 million, Bribery
Commission sources said.
When the woman lodged a complaint to remove the inmates of the
welfare centre, the ASP had allegedly intervened and promised to chase
the inmates if the money is given to him.
