Controlled price for infant milk powder

Cooperatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando has directed Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) chairman Rumi Marzook to specify a controlled price for all varieties of infant milk powder as soon as possible.

A spokesman for the Cooperatives and Internal Trade Ministry confirmed that the order was given to bring a controlled price for infant milk powder as there are no specified prices. The gazette notification in this regard will be released , he said.

Two wheelers for women

Twelve needy women were presented 12 two wheelers to mark International Women's Day at Nallur Young Artistes Mantram by the Jaffna Womens Organization. The presentation will help the young women in self employment.

Youth knocked down

A youth, Samaravil Kumar ,24, was knocked down by a train and killed on the Vavuniya-Anuradhapura rail track. He is a resident of Viral Kurappu. His body is at the Anuradhapura hospital.
