Mundalama's abducted girl found:

Child was taken away by relative who is a drug addict - Police

The pre-school child abducted by a suspect who arrived on a motorcycle at Mundalama on Thursday was found by the Police with the help of her mother and neighbours without paying the ransom demanded by the abductors.

A man who posed as Suwasthika Sarathchandra's uncle, abducted the child from a pre - school in Mundalama demanding a Rs 5 million ransom. The Police arrested the abductor and his concubine along with a motorcycle, by deploying decoys.

The child was also rescued without a cent being paid to the abductor.

The meeting place was fixed by the abductors at a place near the Arachchikattuwa Divisional Secretariat yesterday afternoon. They later left the child with the motorcycle after they had doubts about the place.

The police decoys with the help of neighbours arrested the suspects.

The police have discovered that the girl had been abducted by a relative who is a drug addict.

A team of police officers led by Mundalama Police OIC Sub Inspector Sujeeva Alamatha are investigating the incident.
