Over 100 countries to attend SIASLE

Sri Lanka needs a continuous marketing drive to position the country among the global arena to attract trade, investment and tourism.

In supplementing the efforts to promote the country, the first ever Sri Lanka International Air Freight, Shipping and Logistics Expo 2012 (SIASLE) will be held from March 8 to 10 at BMICH Colombo.

On the sideline of this event the 12th International Association of Ports and Harbours Asia/Oceania Regional Meeting and Port forum will be hosted by Sri Lanka Ports Authority from March 8 to 9 at the same venue. This is also the first occasion that this forum is held in Sri Lanka.

The two events present an ideal opportunity to showcase the country’s potential and capabilities while providing a platform to build linkages and business relationships.

As a large number of foreign delegates from 100 countries are expected at these events it could be considered a launching pad for future marketing initiatives, Sri Lankan Ports Authority (SLPA) Chairman Dr. Priyath B. Wickrama said.

With the new port and air port coming up thus boosting Sri Lanka’s capacities and capabilities to world class standards combined with the country’s excellent geographical proximity, it will soon be the most important destination for world logistics industry, he said.

The SIASLE is organized by CEMS Lanka local operations of CEMS Global USA in association with SLPA.
