The final aim of all education institutions should be to turn out
young men and women to take over the leadership of the country, said
Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge participating in the
launching ceremony of the National School of Business Management(NSBM)
at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo on Tuesday.

He said that education institutions should not be limited to academic
purposes. Knowledge alone is not power. The NSBM will be an excellent
institution which produces managers and leaders with good qualities.
'The NSBM will be set up as a fully affiliated body of the National
Institute of Business Management (NIBM) on a proposal made by Youth
Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma.
The NSBM is the degree awarding school of the National Institute of
Business Management(NIBM) and it is a fully owned subsidiary of the NIBM
which offers undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes in the
fields of management, computer and engineering.
According to Chief Executive Officer Dr E. A. Weerasinghe, the NSBM
aims to introduce novelty and innovation into the higher education
sector. The NSBM offers programmes aimed at producing skilled graduates
who can uplift the performance of business and the economy and attempts
to play a distinctive role in furthering the nation's economic
development.
Degree programmes offered by the NSBM are designed to cater to the
requirements of the business community and the economy.
"We have invested in state-of-the-art learning facilities to provide
undergraduates with a new experience in learning and sharing knowledge.
Our strategic plan for the next five years in establishing an array of
academic programmes and facilities will further strengthen our journey
towards servicing the field of higher education," the Chief Executive
Officer said.
The CEO said the NSBM Academic Department consists of members with
strong academic backgrounds, appropriately blended with industry
experience. |
