Trinity in command

Trinity College are poised to register their ninth outright win for the season in their inter-school cricket match against S Thomas' College, Mt Lavinia which began at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy yesterday.

Trinity College batting first amassed 314 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Dinuk Wickramanayake scored his third hundred for the season in making 101 not out with 11 fours and 3 sixes and faced 139 deliveries. He was involved in a sixth wicket stand of 102 with Heshan Wanniarachchi who made 71 with 11 fours and 1 six. Off spinner Malshan Sumanasiri took 4 for 74. Facing this huge total the Thomians simply crumbled against the spin of the Lions and were dismissed for 53 in 29.1 overs. Only Sachin Peiris entered double figures scoring 11. Janishka Premasinghe took 4 for 18 and has now reached 76 wickets.

Trinity College: 314 for 7 decl. in 67 overs (Niroshan Dickwella 33, Janishka Premasinghe 33, Heshan Wanniarachchi 71, Dinuk Wickramanayake 101 n.o, Lakshitha Dassanayake 31 n.o, Malshan Sumanasiri 4 for 74, M Ravinchandra Kumar 2 for 65).

S Thomas' College: 53 all out in 29.1 overs (Sachin Peiris 11, Janishka Premasinghe 4 for 18, Alwin Fernando 2 for 8, Lakshan Jayasinghe 2 for 1) and 1 for 1 in 1 over.
