TOYP recognizes carbon footprinting pioneer

The Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP) programme presented an award for Environmental Leadership to Subramaniam Eassuwaren, the Managing Director of the Carbon Consulting Company [CCC], whose aim is to offer a complete end-to-end service for companies that are committed to reducing their carbon emissions. Eswaran Brothers Exports Deputy Chairman Subramaniam Eassuwaren, under the guidance of Nobel Laureate, Professor Mohan Munasinghe and eminent conservationist, Dr Ranil Senanayake has made a difference to Sri Lanka's corporate world and the way they view the environment.

In his acceptance speech, Eassuwaren who is a Certified Carbon Footprinting Expert of the UK Carbon Trust, raised many ethical issues which are often overlooked if not ignored by most corporates, not only locally but internationally. Other winners in the past from Sri Lanka included Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralidharan, Otara Chandiram and Prof Lakshman Watawala.

The Carbon Consulting Company (CCC) has been created with the purpose of helping organizations reduce their environmental impact and maximize the CSR and marketing opportunities arising from these efforts. The CCC's mission is to help corporate leaders and decision makers develop the skill sets and knowledge base that would be required for survival in the dawning era of a low carbon economy.

The CCC is a Carbon Footprint Expert certified company, and is accredited by the Carbon Trust, the UK Government's carbon standards body.

It is also an official certifier of the Carbon Neutral Company of the UK.
