Lies Agreed Upon:
Sri Lanka ready to clear any misconceptions

The government yesterday reiterated its commitment to reply queries
raised in any quarter in the international arena in respect of the
humanitarian operation launched by the Security Forces to free over
300,000 people who were held hostage by the LTTE terrorists, any time.

Commenting on the documentary Lies Agreed Upon which is to be
screened before an esteemed audience, including UN officials in New
York, Foreign Secretary Karunatilleke Amunugama said that many people in
the world are either misinformed or disinformed over what actually
happened in Sri Lanka. Amunugama added that members of the international
community are using various parameters based on their own perceptions to
evaluate what actually happened in Sri Lanka and the government wanted
to tell them the actual truth.
A senior diplomat who represented Sri Lanka in many countries as head
of mission, Amunugama added that Sri Lankan officials are ready to reply
any query raised by the audience in New York.
He said that the documentary Lies Agreed Upon will manly focus on the
true state of affairs in relation to the eradication of terrorism.
�We do not want to harp on what the LTTE was and had been carrying on
for 30 years but we want to show the world what has actually happened
during the humanitarian operation launched by the Security Forces,� he
said. |
