'President committed to democracy'

Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S M Chandrasena said that
President Mahinda Rajapaksa who had received nearly 60 percent of the
people's mandate never needs a military government.
The minister said the UNP and the JVP are today attempting to create
a fear psychosis about a military government. He explained that those
attempting to establish military governments are bankrupt politicians
who have failed to get a mandate from the people.
Minister Chandrasena who made it clear that the President or the
government would never go against the democratic freedoms of the people,
emphasized that the aim of the President and the government was to
ensure a peaceful Sri Lanka after developing the country. |
