Namal's e-school project launched

The e-school project initiated by Namal Rajapaksa, MP for Hambantota District to provide ICT (Information Communications Technology) facility to rural schools was launched recently in Hambantota.

The mission of this project is to increase IT literacy rate of school children. The event was successfully completed with an online lecture delivered from Colombo by Communications lecturer Christy Alwis.

Hambantota Suchi National School and Lunugamvehera Central College were provided with Internet. This program will open a new pathway for distance learning as many schools will be connected to the Internet.

The children of the remote schools will be connected to the World Wide Web.

The e-school program was co-ordinated by Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency Chairman, Asanga Abeygoonasekera and was sponsored by ERI (Environmental Resources Investment), Enterprise Technology (Pvt) Ltd, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and CSCT campus. A donation of 400 projectors was also distributed by Huawei Technologies Co Ltd.
