Royal and Visakha most popular

Royal College (179) and Visakha Vidyalaya (179) of Colombo are the boys and girls schools with the highest cut-off marks, according to popular school admission cut-off marks of the Grade 5 scholarship (Sinhala medium) examination held in August 2010. According to cut-off marks released yesterday by education authorities Dharmaraja College, Kandy (175), Ananda College, Colombo (174), and Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala (174) are the other boys Schools on the top of the list.

Devi Balika, Colombo (174), Mahamaya, Kandy (173), and Maliyadeva Balika, Kurunegala (172) are the highest rated among the girls schools followed by Visakha.

According to Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena from the 310,000 who sat the examination 25,613 (Sinhala medium) are eligible to enter popular schools.

The Tamil medium Year 5 scholarship examination popular school cut-off marks will be released next week.
