Best Sri Lankan website recognized
The grand awards ceremony of the Most Favourite Sri Lankan Website
Competition 2010 (bestweb.lk 2010) took place on November 12 at the
Galle Face Hotel.
BestWeb.lk 2010 is a unique and an innovative web-based competition
organized by the LK Domain Registry for the second time this year. Its
objective is to promote and popularize excellent Sri Lankan websites and
to showcase the Sri Lankan web identity online, not only in English, but
also in Sinhala and Tamil.
The competition also recognizes the best Sri Lankan web developers
and promotes.lk domains. It has also been successful in increasing
public awareness of local websites, especially in Sinhala and Tamil.
This was a follow-up of the highly successful competition "Most
Favourite Sri Lankan website 2009."
All private and public sector organizations that have a local
presence and possess a.lk website were eligible to enter the
competition. A key feature of bestweb.lk 2010 was that in addition to
recognizing the most favourite Sinhala, Tamil and English sites based on
the public's votes, a panel of distinguished judges selected the best
websites in 10 categories, including the Best Government Website, the
Best Corporate Website, the Best Entertainment Website, etc.
In addition to the winners and runners-up, awards were also given to
the other favourite sites in each language.

Tamil Category, winners are, 1. www.virakesari.lk, 2.
www.hinduprefects.lk and 3 www.simple.lk
English Category, winners are, 1. www.sliit.lk, 2. www.adaderana.lk
and 3. www.tharunayaweb.lk
The following were adjudged the best Sri Lankan websites in each of
the categories.
Best Government website - www.parliament.lk
Best Corporate website - www.mountlaviniahotel.lk
Best SME website - www.visioncare.lk
Best Non Profit website - www.happylife.lk
Best eCommerce website - www.odel.lk
Best Entertainment website - www.islandcricket.lk
Best Personal website - www.otara.lk
Affno (Pvt) Ltd won the award for the Best Website Developer, based
on the websites developed by them.
