The Defence Ministry together with Dialog and Sri Lanka Rupavahini
Corporation announced Ranaviru Real Star (RRS) world’s first reality
television show exclusively for tri-forces personnel yesterday. This was
conceptualized by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. “The Sri Lankan
armed forces delivered the dividends of peace to the nation and now they
are engaged in development programs all over the island. The members of
the forces were not able to participate in reality shows during the
humanitarian operations. We want to emphasis the human behind the weapon
and to showcase their hidden talents in singing and dancing. We welcome
this initiative from Dialog that will highlight their abundant talents,
which would offer a place and face for our heroes,” Rajapaksa said.
Speaking to the Daily News Business, Dialog Group Chief Marketing
Officer, Nushad Perera said RRS is Dialog’s largest investment. As it is
an ongoing project the amount cannot be disclose, but it is indeed
significant. The funding of the project is from the group itself. As a
premier national brand, Dialog is proud to pioneer this initiative to
salute our tri-force personnel. RRS is a product of Dialog and we will
continue to be in the forefront of this development drive to the best of
our ability, he said.
The first episode of RRS will be telecast on November 5 at 10 pm on
Rupavahini following every Friday and Saturday at the same time. The
program is scheduled to have the grand finale on May 19 next year as the
country celebrates the second anniversary of the victory.
