University tough on raggers

The University of Peradeniya is very keen in preventing ragging of
freshers of the new academic batches who entered the university last
month.
The university administration will be tough on any senior student
found guilty, Senior Professor Shantha Hennnyaka told the Daily News.
Some student unions probably led by JVP sympathizers brainwash innocent
students to convert them to their political view point. These forces are
behind ragging," Hennayaka said.
This time many preventive methods have been applied and lecturers
have been deployed everywhere to observe any unethical and illegal
procedures being carried out targeting the new comers. Technology is
also used to curb ragging.
Cameras have been installed in identified locations where students
are being ragged.
Currently, Sri Lanka is said to be its worst affected country in the
world, the Professor said. |
