No legs no barrier

A hip-hop dancer who does not have legs has found fame after performing on the Indian version of Britain's Got Talent.

Thakur appeared on India’s Got Talent show

Vinod Thakur has been rehearsing and training as he prepares for later rounds of the TV show. The 21-year-old hopes to impress the judges on India's Got Talent with his moves and flips using his bare hands for support.

Thakur, who received encouragement from his friends and choreographer, was born without legs due to a birth defect.

He came from a poor neighbourhood in East Delhi and taught himself to dance by copying the moves from break dance videos available on the Internet. The former mobile phone repairer is now hoping to open a dance training school for physically challenged people in future.

"I used to look for B boying dance stunts through the Internet. My friend Manish has been with me since childhood and he knows what all things I can do," he said.

"Even if I was not able to do a step, he used to tell me, Vinod you will be able to do it."

"The school that I will open...I will keep it free for disabled people," Thakur added

"I will hone their skills that God has gifted them with and make a group of my own and send them back to the stage of India's Got Talent."
