One machine can do the work of 50 ordinary men
but no machine can do the work of one extraordinary man. So says Elbert
Hubbard in The Roycroft Dictionary and Book of Epigrams. A new set of
technological equipments related to cinema and television were unveiled
in Sri Lanka for the first time recently.
Imported to the island by Rohan Welivita of Fine Vision, the camera
systems, colour correctors and satellite uplink units are the kind that
were used while making Oscar winning movies as well as the popular

The Da Vinci Systems equipment was initially developed by VTA in 1982
for use by a Hollywood, FL, based production/post-production facility to
alter and enhance colors from scanned film and video tape. The Wiz
system was marketed to other post-production facilities, laying the
foundation for the creation of the colorist and the post-production
color suite.
The control panel is based on track balls and other discrete controls
that enable colorists to control the software that manipulates motion
picture images.
