Jazz by the terrace

Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo:

Before one has the chance to get accustomed to it, the end of the month looms near, bringing with it the pressure caused by a multitude of month end duties. Recognizing this, the Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo schedules a relaxing night of jazz at the hotel towards the end of every month. Set up by their infinity pool and overlooking the Beira Lake, stars sparkling above, any form of stress is bound to be forgotten for the night!

Two bands, Revel Crake & Co and the Trans Jazz Quartet will take turns in delivering soothing jazz sounds to the listeners’ ears. Gavin Sen on saxophone, Alston Joachim on bass and electric guitar, Shiraz Noor Amit on drums and Dilrukshi Sirimanne on keyboards and vocals comprise the blend of talent that make up the Trans Jazz Quartet.

Meanwhile, Revel Crake & Co. features Rodney Van Heer on saxophone, Revel Crake on guitar, Ray Gomes on bass and Christopher Prins on drums.

They will go as far back as the era of Nat King Cole, and cover hits from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Diana Krall, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, George Gershwin, Billy Strayhorn, Chic Corea, Sadao Watanabe, Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour and Larry Carlton and other such greats.

The Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo will introduce a special menu and action stations in keeping with the feel of the evening on August 20.

The festival start at 7:30 and will go on till 11:00pm. No entrance fee will be charged, it’s just a free flow of music on a cool Friday evening where you pay for just what you order. It is advisable to make a prior reservation to avoid disappointment.
