The first set of houses constructed under the Governments Api Wenuwen Api program will be handed over to Security Forces personnel by President Mahinda Rajapaksa tomorrow, Media Centre for National Security Director General Lakshman Hulugalle said.

Seven hundred houses will be constructed throughout the country for Security Forces personnel under the Api Wenuwen Api housing program.

Under the first phase of the program, 25 houses have been constructed in Kandy while 28 houses have been constructed in Kurunegala. Houses in Kurunegala are nearing completion.

The second phase will commence in Matara and Hambantota districts, he added. Selected Security Forces personnel of the three armed forces will be given houses. The houses are constructed on the land of the selected war hero.

Low income security personnel and families of forces personnel who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland have been selected as recipients of houses. Each house consists of three bedrooms, pantry, kitchen, living room and other facilities. The Api Wenuwen Api fund spends 0.9 million for building material for each house.
