Fast-unto-death for the second day

The fast-unto-death campaign organized by the National Freedom Front with the support of other patriotic groups to press UN General Secretary Ban Ki- moon to dissolve the UN special advisory panel was staged opposite the Colombo UN Office by NFF Chairman Wimal Weerawansa yesterday morning for the second day after the chanting of Pirith by the Mahasanga.

Addressing the gathering before launching the protest campaign, Weerawansa said he will not stop his fast-unto -death campaign until the advisory panel is dissolve.

Weerawansa appealed to International Powers specially China and Russia to impose pressure on Ban Ki-moon to dissolve the special advisory panel appointed by him at his own whim.

He said he will continue the protest campaign overpowering any type of rival challenges imposed on him.

National Patriotic Movement President Gunadasa Amarasekera said the appointment of the special advisory panel is clearly violating the UN procedures and unethical.
